As an alternative to tables a specialized dosage calculator is offered online: 

It is built as an interactive single tissue layer model of ultrasound intensity absorption in tissue.  Reflexion and refraction are not considered in this "lite"-version.

An online dosage calculator based on a multilayer tissue model, and implementing reflexion and dynamic focusing is under development.

  

TUTORIAL:

 Enter  your data in the green fields.

First you select the parameters that determine the intensity:

  • The distance from  the surface to the lesion = depth.

  • Enter  also your selection of therapeutic dosage:

    • Therapeutic intensity (at the lesion)

    • The local treatment time

    • The frequency

  • The predominant tissue type between the skin and the lesion is selected from a list by clicking on the menu down-arrow.

 

Then enter your parameters for the treatment time and temperature calculations:

  • The pulse regime

  • The local treatment time

  • The transducer size (ERA)

  • The size of the lesion ( the exposed skin area)

Finally read the results in red text, - the setting of your apparatus: intensity and the total treatment time.

The values of local intensity and heat generation for any tissue depth are read from the graphs.

 

At the bottom of the calculator screen are three blue buttons that update, reset and print the page. Press update and then backspace to go to the preceding page.
